Authorities destroy cameras to prevent account of raid…

When critics warn about the dangers of police militarization, this is what we\’re talking about. You’ll see the raid team, dressed in battle-dress uniforms, helmets and face-covering balaclava hoods take down the family’s door with a battering ram. You’ll see them storm the home with ballistics shields, guns at the ready. More troubling still, you’ll see not one but two officers attempt to prevent the family from having an independent record of the raid, one by destroying a surveillance camera, another by blocking another camera’s lens.

RAID FILMED: Ankeny Police ‘Traumatize’ Family in IowaANKENY,

IOWA WHOTV: New information regarding the story reported Monday night regarding a search warrant that was executed at a Des Moines home, looking for about $1000 worth of items purchased with a stolen credit card. Ankeny police spokeswoman Captain Makai Echer says officers consider several factors when deciding whether to send officers similar to a SWAT team to a house to serve a warrant, or simply knock on the door.In this case, Echer says, officers looked at suspect’s criminal histories and whether there could be firearms in the home. Of the three suspects that were present in the home, one has a violent arrest record for two assaults about 13-years ago and a domestic assault.Another suspect did have a permit to carry a weapon. Echer would not comment on whether that played a role in the decision. She would also not comment on whether it was appropriate for a police officer to rip a security camera from the front of the house after officers had already entered.

The full statement is as follows:

The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America. I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken. I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities. We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that’s a job for all of us. That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.

Since the jury decided that the tragedy was a result of justifiable self defense, the “future tragedies” will not be the attacker but the attacked. Does that sound better to anyone other than attackers, muggers, rapists, thieves and/or wannabe tyrannical government?

Yeah I know adding government was redundant to the prior description of what government has become, but, I’m going to leave it there.

A video of Rutherford County deputies stopping a Middle Tennessee State University student at a DUI checkpoint, then asking him to pull over and searching his car after he wouldn’t roll the window all the way down, is nearing 2 million hits on YouTube.

Libertarians nationwide have been recording interactions with police in a campaign to demonstrate what they call violations of constitutional rights. A party representative said Chris Kalbaugh, 21, checked in and got the go-ahead for such a demonstration before he stopped at the checkpoint and encountered Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputy A.J. Ross.

Kalbaugh’s video camera was recording from the passenger seat, aimed toward the driver’s side window.

In the video, Ross asks Kalbaugh to roll down his window farther, and Kalbaugh refuses, saying it’s fine where it is. When Kalbaugh continues to challenge Ross’ demands, Ross orders him to pull his car over and step out. Later, a drug dog…

It appears that the K-9 officer has trained his dog to alert on command. This practice has become so ubiquitous that it has become a standard way of getting around the legal process of getting a warrant. Until dogs start passing the bar and elected to judgeships, it is time to end giving dogs such authority.

Current Communist Goals

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

[From "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

Tensions continue to rise on the Korean peninsula. Bill Whittle wonders why a poverty stricken totalitarian state like North Korea is setting the terms of debate, and not President Obama. Could the problem be that Obama and his security team fail to properly understand Kim Jong-un and his Stalinist regime? Is President Obama bumbling his way towards nuclear war? Find out.

About effing time!

On Wednesday, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) took to the Senate floor and warned that universal background checks could lead to a national registry system for guns.

“Some of the proposals, like for example- universal background checks- would allow the federal government to surveil law-abiding citizens who exercise their Constitutional rights. One of the provisions we expect to see in the bill based on what we saw in the Judiciary Committee- on which I sit- would allow the Attorney General of the United States (Eric Holder) to promulgate regulations that could lead to a national registry system for guns. Something my constituents in Utah are very concerned about, and understandably so,” said Sen. Lee.

“You see, the federal government has no business monitoring when or how often you go to church; what books and newspapers you read; who you vote for; your health conditions; what you eat for breakfast; and the details of your private life– including your lawful exercise of your rights protected by the Second Amendment and other provisions of the Bill of Rights.”

From The Times of Ysrael

With Israeli elections just over a week away, parties are pulling out all the stops to grab attention and show who they are. However, one party ad, featuring a model stripping down to her skivvies, may have revealed a bit too much.

The Central Elections Committee was petitioned Sunday to ban a television ad run by the Calcala (Economy) party, which the Coalition against Racism in Israel claimed hurts the status of women and is unworthy of televised campaign advertisements.

Committee chairman Elyakim Rubenstein said that the ad was vulgar and in poor taste, but he refused to ban it, saying that in this day and age, there is nothing in the commercial that is not already easily accessible to the public.

Nevertheless, the Calcala party announced on Sunday that they would not air the commercial anymore, as they now understand that many people, particularly women and the ultra-Orthodox, found it offensive.

The ad features a young woman, who describes herself as “Lynn,” a high school graduate who served in the IDF and then decided to pursue an academic degree.

“Lynn” proceeds to describe how hard it is to survive in Israel economically, and lists all of the things that Israeli citizens must pay — income tax, value added tax, national health insurance, housing, electricity, and so on. For each item she mentions, she removes an article of clothing, until she is down to her bra and panties.

As her bra comes off, she is covered by a banner that reads “The government is stripping us!”

The party founders, brothers Danny and Benny Goldstein, then come out fully dressed and block the view of “Lynn.”

“Do we have to get to this situation in order for you to listen to us,” they ask.

They promise that their party will not allow the government to “undress” you.

The Calcala party, running on an economic reform platform, is seen as a long shot to enter the Knesset. The faction is headed by defected Kadima MK Yulia Shamalov Berkovich.

Here are the political/governmental poor decisions that led to the crash

Here’s How The Community Reinvestment Act Led To The Housing Bubble’s Lax Lending

The secularization of these, required by CRA, poison pill mortgages (needed to mitigate the banks’ risk incurred by making them) coupled with the repeal (1999) of the Glass Steagall Act made the crash almost inevitable. Both of these truly horrible decisions were made by politicians for “the greater good” of their constituents, either donors or stupid voters.

The Repeal Of The Glass Steagall Act and Its Contribution To The 2008/2009 Economic Crisis

The idiotic “derivatives” that were invented to shift more of the risk to investors and the “credit default swaps” designed to insure the investors in these instruments were actively encouraged by the SEC, which is a government agency charged with protecting the public not the banks.

Testimony of Annette L. Nazareth, Director Division of Market Regulation February 10, 2000

Certain Politicians who claimed responsibility for the CRA kept insisting that everything was working perfectly well while the system was snowballing down the hill.

Dodd and Countrywide – WSJ.com

After the bust, the perpetraitors (sic) used it to turn on the small banks in order to protect the larger banks that had gambled and lost at the politicians urgings and assurances by constructing a huge barrier to entrance for new banks and onerous, costly reporting requirements the cost of which will cause many small banks to close. That will lead to larger banks being free to charge higher fees resulting in larger campaign donations or favors.

Dodd-Frank: 26,353 paper-pushers

Dodd-Frank helps big banks at expense of small ones …

Now, I told you, that to tell you this,

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-15/freddie-fannie-push-bank-bad-debt-cost-to-84-billion-mortgages.html

The problem is that the politicians forced bad loan origination on the banks in a ponzi like quota system and paid some Clintoonite bureaucrats some fantastic bonuses to flood Fannie Mae with bad loans.

Jamie Gorelick served as vice chairman of the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) when the government-sponsored enterprise began bundling subprime loans into securitized financial instruments. Her compensation was a salary of a little over $500,000 and $26,000,000 in bonuses. But Gorelick is perhaps best known for her 1995 memo, written when she was deputy attorney general for Clinton, that later became known as “Gorelick’s Wall,” a policy prescription limiting the flow of information between intelligence gatherers and criminal investigators that some believe helped allow the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center to go unchallenged. (And often alleged to keep the FBI from learning what the CIA knew about Clintoon’s missile technology dealings with the Chinese.)

Franklin Raines the former chairman and chief executive officer of Fannie Mae, who served as White House budget director under President Bill Clinton. His Compensation was $700k salary, $50 million bonuses. He was specifically named in the Securities Exchange Commission’s lawsuit against Fannie Mae and settled for by paying the SEC $24.7 million, so he wound up in about the same financial position as the other Clintoonite.

Otherwise known as dumbing down the populace in order to enable politicrats to feed on them while encouraging their ignorance. A few more years of this and they will be eligible for the Occupy Movement. (The latest incarnation of the Hitler Jugend.)

Whatcha wanna bet they can recite all sorts of Malthusian-Luddite fables and fantasies about DDT, anthropogenic global warming, overpopulation, wind power, solar power and peak oil? Of course they won’t be able to tell you who T. R. Malthus or Ned Ludd were or about their actual disproved theories, the successors of which are are the Watermelons’ (Green on the outside Red on the inside) political platform aspiring to lead to an Animal Farm/Bolshevik revolution leading to their desired three class society. (Did you know Bolshevik means “Majority”, which they weren’t? Seems that the Occupy Movement, who aren’t the 99% are taking a page from Lenin’s playbook, nyet?)

The three classes obviously desired
1. Those who rule government
2. Those who work for government
3. Peasants that live off the “benevolence” of government

Protectionism bought and paid for by the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association, I betcha.

Verlin Stoll is a 27-year-old entrepreneurial dynamo who owns Crescent Tide funeral home in Saint Paul, Minn. Verlin has built a successful business because he offers low-cost funerals while providing high-quality service. His business is also one of the only funeral homes that benefits low-income families who cannot afford the high prices of the big funeral-home companies.

Verlin wants to expand his business, hire new employees and continue to offer the lowest prices in the Twin Cities, but Minnesota refuses to let Verlin build a second funeral home unless he builds a $30,000 embalming room that he will never use.

Minnesota’s law is irrational. Embalming is never required just because someone passes away and the state does not even require funeral homes to do their own embalming. In fact, it is perfectly legal to outsource embalming to a third-party embalmer. Minnesota’s largest funeral chain has 17 locations with 17 embalming rooms, but actually uses only one of those rooms.

Why is Minnesota forcing Verlin to waste $30,000 on a useless embalming room as a condition of expanding his thriving business?

So that the big, full-amenity funeral-home businesses can benefit from a law that drives up prices for consumers and operating expenses for competitors such as Verlin. Verlin’s basic services fee is only $250, which is about 90 percent lower than the $2,500 that the average Twin Cities’ funeral home charges. Verlin’s business model is built on minimizing fixed costs, which is why he does not have a hearse or chapel, and this law—to the advantage of his competitors—stands in the way of him expanding his low-cost, high-quality approach.

The government should not force Minnesotans to do useless things. That is why on January 19, 2012, Verlin and the Institute for Justice challenged the law in state court.

The Minnesota Constitution protects every Minnesotan’s economic liberty, which means that it protects entrepreneurs from being burdened by legal requirements that are either useless or designed to suppress honest competition.

A victory here will not only free Verlin from an unconstitutional restraint on his economic liberty, but protect entrepreneurs across the state from pointless laws and bureaucracy.
