“If we knew everything then that we know now, one week after it happened, I think that would have been really devastating to [Obama’s reelection] campaign,” says former CBS reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, referencing the 2012 Benghazi terrorists attacks. Recently revealed White House emails suggest that the Obama administration may have attempted to mislead the American public by placing the blame on an Internet video and not Islamic terrorists, which would have raised questions about Obama’s foreign policy strategy.

Attkisson, an award winning investigative reporter, was one of the few journalists who continued pursuing the Benghazi story long after many in the main stream media lost interest. According to Attkisson, her bosses at CBS wanted her to drop the story. As a result, she left CBS, her employer for two decades, this past March over what she claims is “liberal bias” at the network and a lack of serious devotion to investigative reporting.

She goes on to say that many in her field are frustrated by the decline of hard-hitting investigative reporting endemic at all networks and not just CBS. The congealing of corporate, news, and political interests at networks have made investigative journalism a relic of the past.

“As one whistleblower put it to me: things have never been worse for people who try to speak the truth inside the government about illegalities and wrong doing. In their view, and I tend to agree, every administration is more clamped down and closed than the one before it. And the next one starts at the finishing point. It’s very hard to make it go backwards. There are rules being implemented now against journalists and the type of work that we do that I think will be very hard to unwind.”

Attkisson sat down with Reason TV’s Nick Gillespie to discuss her reporting on Benghazi, Fast and Furious, and the decline of investigative journalism in America.

I’m not being insulting, most people are not wolves nor sheepdogs, for an explanation see the second video. My instinct as a protector led to a career in the military, regretfully cut short, and I avoid gun-free free-fire-for-predator zones whenever it is possible. I think of the sailor that wanted to become a SEAL dying doing the only thing he could do to protect his girl. Of course the sheep have disarmed our military even on their bases due to years of fear over a conscripted  slave military and the sheep’s fear of sheepdogs, witness the Ft. Hood massacre. I was always amused to see European soldiers on civilian trains with their weapons while American soldiers were not allowed to do the same. Even in military convoys, Americans never had ammunition on their persons and ofttimes the weapons were locked up also.

Do you ever wonder why the occupants of Mordor on the Potomac (D.C.)  are so intent on disarming the American Populace? I do, and it leads to some scary thoughts.

Douglas Rasmussen is a professor of philosophy at St. John’s University. In this lecture given at an International Society for Individual Liberty conference in 1991, he introduces subjective value to the general concept of human flourishing. He references F.A. Hayek’s article “The Use of Knowledge in Society” to make the argument that a familiarity with and respect for concrete particular knowledge is necessary not only for market economies to emerge but is also important when applied to the human matrix of decision-making for leading a moral and fulfilled life. Basically, each individual and each individual alone has the particularized local knowledge to make the determinations about which proportions of competing value classes will lead to fulfillment in their lives; thus there is no ‘one size fits all’ standard of happiness that can be provided by prescriptive institutions.

I just saw a protestor screamjng, “Hands off my Medicare1”. OK I quess we can chalk that up to failures in our education system. At least FDR hid the Social Security Fraud as a type of insurance product in which your “contribution” was used to fund your retirement. Until they had to tell the truth and admit before the Supreme Court that it was just another tax (Heverling v. Davis 1937) and did not convey rights to the taxpayer.

Medicare was never sold to the public that way. It was promoted as our obligation to the elderly and funded by a payroll tax. Thus it became a direct transfer from the working to the retired. I would suggest that Medicare taxes should be sequestered in a separate fund that funds only Medicare . If it runs low, adjust benefits or tax level. It will be highly inteesting to see how much the children of the “Baby Boomer” will be willing to pay for their parents.

Hey maybe we can get a bunch of illegal aliens paying into the system to balance it oyt. /sarc
